Medieval Legend

My local history society has amassed a vast archive of local information amongst which one particular legend stood out. It intrigued me that something so implausible ... and so gruesome, could actually happen. And, inevitably, the Grade 1 listed medieval church in the area became the model for the building in my story. Indeed, the novel is dedicated to: ‘The past, present and future congregations of All Saints’ Church, Westons Juxta Avenum’.

Like its predecessor, ON A THIN STALK, this novel applies a new slant to today’s issues - to what lies behind them ... and to what can be done to ameliorate their consequences.

Lord of the Manor and his rightful heir

Summoned to the bedside of the dying Lord Gervaise Marston, Amos Cotswold, the local District Councillor, fails to decipher what the old gentleman is trying desperately to convey. As boys, Amos and Lord Marston’s son had been friends but Crispin left forty years ago. No-one knows if he’s still alive or who will inherit the country estate, the manor, the twelfth century ruins and the church resplendent with pointy-shoed knights and their coats of arms.
